“Our teenage daughter has had chronic headaches for two years. Her pediatrician and two different local neurosurgeons made us feel repeatedly that her problem was not worth treating (tell that to the girl with the headaches!). Seeing Dr. Brown was a breath of fresh air. She is so compassionate, and promised us from the onset that she would help us get to the bottom of the headaches. It took a year of tests and visits while she methodically narrowed down the diagnosis. She was also honest to say the treatment was out of her realm, but helped us with a referral to a neurosurgeon who could help. I highly recommend Dr. Brown!”

“I was amazed at how wonderfully they treated each of their staff members. They always have an immediate answer for me when I call with a question. They would never try to get me to make an appointment unless I really needed one. They made the extra effort to make sure every question and concern I had was addressed. Dr. Brown is very thorough in her evaluations and I definitely recommend her!”

“It is obvious that their office is cleaned regularly. It was fantastic. They go out of their way to make everyone feel equally respected and cared for. I've seen client favoritism at some of the other places I've been, and I really appreciate the extra effort they make to avoid that here. I really admire them for being more than willing to ask for help from other professionals in the field when they don't have an answer to my question. They aren't even slightly arrogant, and I'm confident they always have my best interest at heart.”

“Dr. Brown has been an amazing resource! I feel so fortunate to have discovered her, and I would highly recommend her to any parent whose child may need a neurological screening or evaluation. I have had my son on a waiting list to be seen at another clinic for over 8 months now, and we have yet to be seen (or even get an appointment. We are still on a waiting list). Ruth, Dr. Brown's office manager, was able to have my son seen by Dr. Brown in less than a week! Dr. Brown spent over 2 hours with us on the first visit discussing my 3 year old son's medical history and behaviors. She was kind, patient, and reassuring. She was also extremely thorough and wrote a 5 page report. Before I saw Dr. Brown, I was a distraught parent who knew my son's behavior was not normal. After I met with Dr. Brown, I was so relieved. She provided a diagnosis consistent with his background. She helped me develop an action plan including getting my son occupational therapy and following up with my local school district for preschool services. I was able to call and work with my insurance to get some of his services at least partially covered. Dr. Brown also arranged follow-up visits. Quite simply, Dr. Brown is incredible and exactly everything I would want and hope for in doctor who works with children!”

“Dr. Brown is wonderful and really cares about her patients. She takes plenty of time and is very thorough. She figured out something that had been misdiagnosed on our daughter for years and really made a huge difference in her life. The office is nice and brand new (she is not new though, she opened her own office after practicing at Children's Hospital in Oakland) and her staff is efficient and caring.”

“We are big fans of Dr. Brown!”

“Her new office is beautiful and comfortable and her office manager Ruth is awesome!”

“Dr. Brown is kind, caring and takes her time during your appointment. She listens to what you have to say, and answers all questions completely. She is easily accessible by email.”

“We were previously seeing Dr. Brown at Children's Hospital Oakland. Upon learning that she was moving to her own practice outside of the hospital, we eagerly followed her. She has been caring for our son since his diagnosis with Angelman Syndrome just before his 2nd birthday. He's 6 now and there is no one else that I trust more with his care. Dr. Brown came highly recommended by our regular pediatrician.”

“Dr. Brown is amazingly kind, caring, and thorough. She is genuinely interested in my child's well-being and development. She is such a breath of fresh air! We love seeing Dr. Brown!!!”

“Dear Dr. Brown,
It’s not often that I am motivated to sit down and write a letter, but your care and concern for my daughter and the time you shared with her was exceptional and priceless.

On Thursday, August 28, K.’s appointment with you finally arrived. We had been waiting nearly 4 months for more insight into the nerve damage to her foot that followed her ACL/MCL/meniscus surgery. She wasn’t in pain anymore, so we almost cancelled; we are glad that we didn’t. We received far more advice than just her foot and we are very grateful.

As an elite gymnast, you were telling your story about your transition out of college gymnastics.

As a mother with kids in college/applying to colleges, you shared your words on following your heart and choosing the right fit.

As a college advisor, you reinforced the need to choose a school first for the academics, then consider the sports.

As a faith-filled mentor, you assured K. that when a door closes, God has other plans for you and to not be afraid.

As a wife, you explained how it could be possible to live your dream of medical school simultaneously with dating, getting married, and raising children, with the right match of a soul mate.

As a mentor, you were a good listener.

And, as a neurologist, you provided her ‘hope’ for the complete healing of her nerve damage (within a year).

Thank you for the time you shared with K. I know it was above and beyond what we expected. We appreciate your honesty, openness, candidness, friendliness and hope.

“Dr. Brown has been caring for our son since 2007. N. was diagnosed with epilepsy in 2006 and Dr. Brown gave our family excellent guidance and direction in treating his condition. She has been available each time we needed immediate assistance and she has helped us through the difficult decisions we have had to make in the past. I would follow Dr. Brown anywhere in order to receive her excellent care and expertise. Our son N. is thriving today and we are so grateful that Dr. Brown has been a huge part of that.”

“When we looked for a neurologist 17 years ago, we wanted someone that would listen to our concerns and treat our child as if he were their own. We found Dr. Brown who is more than a doctor to our son. She is also the family doctor. I say this because she has helped us understand our son’s condition. Every time he had a seizure she was on the phone comforting me and telling me he would be okay. During one appointment with Dr. Brown, she noticed that something was not quite right with our son’s appearance. She immediately sent us to the hospital because one of his medicines was causing liver problems. She would take the time to call and check on our son because she cares! I have recommended Dr. Brown to many of my friends and I would highly recommend her to anyone that wants a doctor that not only supports the patient, but also the family.”

“My 12-year-old daughter has been a patient of Dr. Brown’s since 2009. S. has been dealing with multiple symptoms of unknown cause for many years. While under the excellent care of Dr. Brown, we have been able to make significant headway as to the root cause of her ongoing health concerns. Dr. Brown has taken the time to explain each step we have taken together. We have never felt rushed or unheard. She talks with us and not at us or above us. She has had to deal with several other specialists to coordinate medical care and she has done so willingly and smoothly. Even as issues arise, she deals with them head-on with compassion and care. We truly feel blessed to have Dr. Brown as part of our medical team that is constantly searching for the quality of life that we know our daughter deserves.”

“Our daughter was diagnosed with TSC when she was 6 months old, and we spent many heart-wrenching years trying to get our arms around her issues and find the proper care. She has a combination of neurological, developmental delays, along with epilepsy. Upon finding Dr. Brown when our daughter was 3 years old, her life began to change. The expertise, professionalism, understanding, and advocacy have been incredibly helpful for our little girl. In terms of support and assistance Dr. Brown is immeasurable.”
